kbetsportsIndia defeated New Zealand to win their third Champions Trophy title with a thrilling four-wicket in the final that took place in Dubai even as Pakistan was the host for the tournament. During the awards distribution ceremony after the match, BCCI president Roger Binny, ICC chairman Jay Shah, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and New Zealand Cricket’s CEO Roger Twose were present on stage even as representation from the host country remained absent.
PCB is also unhappy about other things that went wrong during the tournament. Earlier in the competition, the broadcaster had removed the host nation's name from the tournament logo during the India vs Bangladesh Group A game. Also, during an Australia vs England encounter in Lahore, the national anthem of India was played for a few seconds by mistake.
Even though the five of the 15 matches in the tournament, including the final, took place outside Pakistan, the PCB chairman called the event a success. He extended his gratitude to his team, law enforcement agencies, provincial governments, ICC officials and the visiting teams for the success of the tournament.
"Your commitment and collective efforts ensured the seamless execution of the prestigious tournament," he said on his social media handle.
"Pakistan takes immense pride in hosting the Champions trophy and making it a spectacle for cricket fans worldwide."kknew1
